Fishing holiday in Western Norway
Lauvøy is one of many small islands that make up the ‘main island’ of Askøy, a separate municipality west of Bergen.
The island is connected to the mainland via a bridge, the road has been built all the way to Ramsøy with the help of a breakwater that stretches over several small islands and cuts the fish-rich Hjeltefjord in to half its width.
This means that all fish coming in from the sea must go through this passage. For those who like fishing, fishing here will be an unforgettable experience.
As a fisherman, you can follow your passion in Lauvøy all year round; winter and summer, autumn and spring. No matter which direction the wind blows, you will almost always find a sheltered bay where you can fish for ling and tusk, saithe, pollack, haddock, whiting, mackerel and more.
If the weather is nice and allows it, you can quickly drive out into the open sea with our fast-moving boats. It takes about 30 minutes.
Due to the proximity to the open sea and the impressive length of the Hjeltefjord, which is well protected from the wind with many passages to the open sea, countless slopes with strongly flowing zones, rocky cliffs and flat zones, the biological diversity is enormous.
Lauvøy is a certified fishing company , which means that our guests can transport a maximum of the fish they catch out of the country (only important for tourist fishing in Norway).
Holiday with children
Some people cannot imagine a family holiday where you can fish and have both your spouse and children with you. But then it’s luck that you’ve found us, because here there are opportunities for the whole family!
Around our facility we have an artificial grass pitch that is always perfectly trimmed and dries quickly after the rain. We also have an entertaining playground for the little ones where they can let off steam. In addition, we have trampoline football, badminton, frisbee and much more.
With us, it is a short distance to the fishing adventure. It’s always entertaining to fish, especially when the mackerel season starts – then it’s very busy and the little ones are busy and having fun!

Our fishing boats are delivered with fuel and in clean and functional condition. Before you drive off, you will receive a theoretical briefing from us where we will go through the sea chart and explain what you should look out for. On request, we can also provide a practical briefing, where you will be shown how to best handle the boat. Fishing boxes or fishing barrels and a bucket are available for each fishing boat
Please note that the boats, as well as fishing boxes and buckets must be thoroughly cleaned on the last day of fishing. You will find the tools you need for this, such as cleaning brushes, sponges and high-pressure washers on the quayside. We ask you not to leave traces of blood or other dirt on boats, fish boxes and buckets. Please return the fishing boat with a full tank after the last day of fishing.
If the boats and accessories mentioned above are not in the clean condition in which they were received, we must charge a cleaning fee of NOK 500.
The stalls are built extra close to the water to avoid long-hauling of peg boxes and lead weights.
You can stop the boat directly in front of your assigned room and quickly unload.
You don’t have to drag the filleted fish across facilities to the apartments either, as each stall is equipped with a 150L freezer
Here there is storage space for all your fishing equipment.
There are clothes hooks screwed into the ceiling for hanging clothes, life suits and life jackets.
The stalls are divided by a mesh fence and we have installed a heat pump so that the stalls can be used as drying rooms to dry the wet clothes.
We have filleting drills in stainless steel with cutting board, connected fresh water, drainage station for the fillets and special mats where the fish does not slip off.
The tables and all accessories such as knives, cutting boards, buckets, fillet mats, fillets and water taps must be left clean after each filleting and gutting, please let us know if you find them dirty.
The workplace must be left clean!
It is important that the seagulls are not fed with fart remains at the dock! All remains must be thrown out into the fjord, at least 200m from the harbor entrance.
